The Truth About Pizza Oil—And Why We Don’t Use It

Most people don’t realize how much vegetable oil is in the average pizza. It’s in the dough, the sauce, the cheese blend—even brushed on the crust post-bake. At Zara Pizza, we cut it out completely. Why? Because vegetable oil is cheap, unnecessary, and doesn’t belong in real food.

1. What’s the Problem with Vegetable Oil?

It’s industrial. It’s over-processed. And it’s used to stretch margins, not improve taste. Seed oils like canola and soybean are known for oxidative instability and zero flavor value. They do nothing for pizza except cut corners.

2. Our Clean Oil Standard

We use olive oil. Period. It’s used in moderation—just enough to give our dough structure and flavor without overwhelming the product. No frying. No coating. No cheap filler.

3. Why It Matters to You

Clean pizza digests better. It tastes better. It leaves you feeling better. Whether you’re health-conscious or just care about quality, removing vegetable oil is a baseline—not a bonus.
